Marian Anderson Stands Up Against Racism

Marian Anderson stood up against racism by using her voice in multiple ways. Anderson refused to perform in halls with segregated audiences. She raised her voice and declared something that she strongly believed in and because she was black it was a big deal. Marian Anderson also had her dignity and spirituality as means against discrimination. She showed racists that it doesn’t matter who you are, you can succeed. She used her dignity as a shield to ignore and brush off the racist comments and keep going. Another tactic that helped Anderson was becoming famous. Her fame caused less and less people to be discriminate toward her because she was a well distinguished public icon. She proved a point to a large number of people that it doesn’t matter what color your skin is, you can succeed at whatever you want. Marian Anderson stood up for what she believed in and used her position in society to tell people not to be racist. People who discriminate aren’t going to win the battle because they aren't right, and anyone can accomplish anything.
